  • Ready for Summer to End. Like, now.

I don't need to write much besides the title, really.  Once school starts, I'll get more hours at the restaurant.  Oh yeah, and I'll have all my UNCA friends back in town.  I hate Jon being on the other side of the forkin' state.  Distance makes the heart grow distant, asshole.  Whoever came up with the original phrase is WRAWNG!

With my copious amounts of free time, I've been doing pointless crafts or brainstorming for a future project.  It's free entertainment!  I feel I'll be more motivated once UNCA classes start.  Summer makes me lazy whether I'm in school or not.

On less depressing topics, Amber and I hosted a chocolate fondue get together Saturday night.  It was really nice and I got to know a few people more.  I'm super glad I got to see my brother Austin because little did I know, he's moving to freaking Georgia!  Like, soon!  But I'm glad, because he'll be rooming with his sister.  So I'm really relieved that he won't be living in an apartment by himself anymore... But it sucks that he'll be so far away.

So, meeting up with friends for lunch tomorrow, then I'm cleaning out my car and rearranging my room so that I can fit in my awesome $15 computer desk.  Thank you again, Goodwill.

    Mm, Life.

So, I'm almost officially done with school.  The hardest part is out of the way, at least-- I had my senior BA exhibition start last week, and I have to take down everything on the 16th.  (I could be obnoxious and post all 12 prints on this blog, but I'll just say go look at it on my dA profile).  On opening night, I sold 6 prints!!!  That's freaking half of the series!  I couldn't believe it.  I guess it helps to make stuff that people would actually want on their wall.  There was another show going on at the same time on the first floor-- the student was BFA and had giant canvases covered in either dirt, mold, or oil.  It was interesting...

The next month is going to be crazy, I'm still getting the hang of this job I have (hostess at a, uhhh, high standard restaurant-- it's challenging), and I've started my Printmaking IV class (challenging).  I've also just moved into an apartment with my old roomie, Amber.  Everything's going well so far, except for, you know... groceries.  I'm really stubborn about spending money so I don't think I'm feeding myself very well, haha.

I'm getting pretty bored lately.  If I'm not working, I'm running errands (or updating my pointless weblog).  I've gotten to the point where I'm re-reading all the graphic novels I have.  Dragon Ball Z manga.  I know.  Next up is Neon Genesis Evangelion.  (Doorrrrrrk).

I got a microwave for $10 the other day!  Thank you, Goodwill.  It's been a long time since I've seen the dial microwaves... so retro.  I finally got a paycheck from work yesterday.  It's only the "training" paycheck so it's not as much as I was expecting.  Still better than nothing, though.  I'm so glad I have this job, it's a lot less routine than a 9-5 office job that I've been used to.  Although, it is kind of frustrating only getting my schedule a week at a time.  BUT!  I'm still happy with this job.  It's teaching me to be obnoxiously friendly.  My manager says I need to be louder, which I believe is impossible, but we'll see.

Must watch moar Better Off Ted.  Michael introduced me to it and it's pretty hilarious.

    JUICE SPRINGSTEEEN!

This is how I feel.  I hate the chaotic feeling of finals approaching.

(It's actually a really old photoshop image I did for Jon, I randomly found it and was like, "Hey... I know exactly how Bruce-Hulk feels."  And isn't it ironic that Hulk's alterego is actually named Bruce Banner?  But really, Bruce Springsteen is so much more badass...er.)

So, here's to the all-nighter I'm about to pull in a few hours!  Here's hoping I don't fall asleep in my Humanities class the next morning... that was embarrassing.

We were supposed to have 2 inches of class-cancelling snow this morning... according to weather.com.  But no, absolutely nothing on the ground besides grass and asphalt when I woke up this morning.  I hope weather.com dies in a fire.  Twice.

Well, time to procrastinate further by going to my local cartoonists meeting!

I'm sad that they don't have a nerdy emoticon... that would be so much more fitting.  I'm so nerdy, omg I dunno how I stand myself sometimes.  I'm listening to Tekkon Kinkreet's soundtrack for God's sake.

    Short post is short.

    Don't Tag Me, Bro

    I got tagged by respawn87.

So, I have to say 5 things about myself, tadahhh!

#1)  I'm the hugest dork I know.  I read comics, watch anime, play dorky video games.

Comics:  whenever I'm back at home, I go to Korner Komics and blow about $15.  I don't feel too bad about it though, because the guy who works there is awesome and I feel good about helping his business.  Oh, and because I'm a dork who likes comics.  (pic 1: Strangers in Paradise... awesome comic that recently ended and now I cry myself to sleep every night).

Anime:  I really try to not get hooked on series unless I can just buy the dvds (i.e., Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop).  But I like pretty much any animated movie.  Lately, it's Tekkonkinkreet (pic 2), which is amazing and I've probably watched it 5 times since last semester.

Video Games:  I just have the old school Playstation (one!  not two or three).  The only games I want to play on there are the 2-player ones (Street Fighter, CTR, blah blah blah).  But lately, my friend Emily has been letting me play her PS2 and I've shamelessly obsessed with We <3 Katamari (pic 3)-- which is basically rolling up brightly colored shit until your head explodes.

So yeah, I'm a nerd.  It's really sad, but at least I'm not in a sorority.

#2)  Branching from my dorky obsession with drawn things: I'm an art major-- B.A., not B.F.A, which would probably be less lame.  I really would want to do some illustration (for children's books or some shit, hell yeah).  That, or just get some douchey real person job and draw comics on the side. I really want to make a graphic novel someday.  Oh geez, this is starting to sound just like #1.

    Anyway, yeah.  Art major.  Next.

#3)  I graduate in summer 09, so I'm kind of starting to worry about postcollege life.  First of all, I need to find an apartment so me and my current suitemate, Amber, won't be homeless.  Also, I need some sort of job to pay rent with.  Uhhhh.  Oh well, that's a while from now.

Also, I'm worried about my whole summing-up-college deal with my senior art show.  I'll have to have around 10 pieces framed and ready by the end of April.  So much to do until then!

#4)  I love concerts, but I don't really have the money to go to them as much as I'd like to.  Next one:  The Killers!  Woooooo

The best concert I've ever been to was Weezer.  That, or Incubus.

#5)  I love photobooths.  Pretty much everytime I pass one, I have to grab the person/people I'm with and hop in.  It's only $3, so why not.  (<<< obviously grasping at straws since I have no idea what else to write).

    TADAHHHH!  The End.

  • Jiggy Doogie Wah

I'm in love with these people, ahhh!

    Kay Nielsen

    Edmund Dulac

But mostly, I'm in love with this guy:

    Arthur Rackham

Aughhhh, I want to draw like this.  I've been working on illustrations for my Drawing III / Printmaking II classes but they're hard to mass-produce.  I showed a few of my drawings to some people at my monthly local cartoonists meeting and they liked them, so maybe I'm heading in a good direction.  That's right, I'm part of a local cartoonist  group.  Booyah.

Random, but www.kids-in-mind.com is hilarious... I just like looking up the raunchiest movies to see what their rating is on it.  Their descriptions under the "sex/nudity" section is incredibly awkward and entertaining.  Blahaha.
